Halloween is a pagan festival held in many countries on the eve of All Saints Day (31st October) in order to celebrate the souls of the dead. This is a real feast for masquerade lovers as there are many attractions related to dressing up and fun. The best example of Halloween celebration is the USA.
On that day people dress up as monsters, witches, ghosts and devils and attend fancy dress parites. Children go in costume from house to house and pick up sweets. This tradition is called "trick-or-treating", which means that the host who doesn't give any treats will be punished with some ''trick''.
The houses are decorated with scary ornaments and lanterns made of hollow pumpkins (Jack-o'-lanterns). Among the most popular symbols of Haloween there are also: tombs, monsters, black cats, bats, spiders, skulls and hounted mansions. Some houseowners use very sophisticated methods and special effects to make others really scared.
